About me

Degree in Computer Science from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (1993), Ph.D. with an European Doctorate Mention from the University of La Laguna within the Program in Statistics, Operations Research and Computing (2003), and University Expert Degree in Software Engineering (Non-Official) by the University of La Laguna (2007).

Former Vicedean of the Computer Engineering School, since 2008 I’m an Associate Professor. I have lectured more than 25 different subjects in Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics and Biology. I’ve supervised or co-supervised more than 20 Final-Year Dissertations in Computer Science.

Author or co-author in more than 25 publications in high-impact international journals or book chapters, and in more than 45 papers presented at national and international conferences. I’ve been involved in 19 research projects or agreements and I belong to the TARO research group (Software Engineering and Databases) and to the Operational Research Group (INO). My main research lines are Bioinformatics / Computational Genomics, Graphs, Big Data / Data Science, and Analytics.
